Saxophonist and composer Nathan Bellott cut his teeth with jazz masters Charli Persip and Hal Galper. A semi-finalist in the inaugural Michael Brecker International Saxophone Competition in 2019, many around the world are starting to take note of Nathan’s beautiful sound, expression and unique artistry. Nathan performs in NYC and beyond with many artists as well as with his own ensembles. He is a regular with Bobby Sanabria, The Birdland Big Band, Valery Ponomarev, Stan Rubin and more. His musicianship has taken him from Smalls Jazz Club to Carnegie Hall to the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat, Israel.
He teaches privately and is on the Winds Faculty at Brooklyn Music School. Nathan attended SUNY Purchase College and the New School. His own studies with masters include Jon Gordon, David Binney, Hal Galper, Jaleel Shaw, Dave Liebman, Bob Mover, Charles McPherson, Mark Shim, Jacob Sacks, Dan Weiss, Andrew Cyrille, Andy Milne and others have given him a unique approach to the instrument and music.
Currently, Nathan is busy with many projects. He has established himself as a first-call for big bands, small groups, and other ensembles. He is an avid composer and writes for his own ensembles.
