Saxophonist and composer Nathan Bellott is currently the front line of Hal Galper and the Youngbloods. The release of their debut album “Live at the COTA Jazz Festival” in Summer 2017 has achieved critical success. Nathan plays regularly around NYC and beyond with many artists as well as with his own ensembles. He has played regularly with Charli Persip, Arturo O’Farrill, the Liberte Big Band and more. Venues of note include Smalls Jazz Club, Carnegie Hall, Zinc Bar, Symphony Space, Joe’s Pub, National Sawdust, Rockwood Music Hall and many more.

He teaches privately and is on the Winds Faculty at Turtle Bay Music School in Manhattan. Nathan attended SUNY Purchase College from 2010-2012 where he was schooled by Jon Gordon, Hal Galper, Todd Coolman, Steve Wilson, Ralph Lalama, Mark Vinci and many others. In 2012 he took his talents to Manhattan to finish his degree at the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music. There he studied with David Binney, Jaleel Shaw, Andrew Cyrille, Dan Weiss, Jacob Sacks and others.

Currently, Nathan is busy with many projects. He has established himself as a first-call for big bands, small groups, and other ensembles. He is an avid composer and writes for his own ensembles. Look out for brand new music soon as well as a possible film score in the coming year.
